Klemm Gallery
The Klemm Gallery provides a venue for a broad range of art exhibitions supporting the University's mission and reflecting the concerns and interests of the faculty and students in the Art Program. The gallery is named after Sister Jeannine Klemm, former chair of the Art Program.

The Klemm Gallery’s programs are primarily educational and thus support the University’s mission “to assist people to become more competent, purposeful, and ethical through a teaching and learning environment which respects the dignity of all.” Furthermore, these programs support the Art Department’s mission, which is to stimulate, challenge, support, and educate students to become educated viewers with visual literacy and critical thinking, professional artists with technical and creative direction, thoughtful and responsible citizens in a global community.

Each fall, the gallery schedules three month-long solo or group exhibitions of contemporary art. Programming surrounding these exhibitions includes lectures, workshops, gallery talks and critiques by visiting artists and scholars. Klemm Gallery’s exhibitions and programming provide opportunities for discussion and collaboration with Siena's students and faculty. Recent exhibitions have presented a wide variety of media and themes, including work by experimental printmaker and installation artist James Cogswell, modernist photographers Berenice Abbott and Eugene Atget, metal smiths David Huang and Brian Clark, fiber artists Julie Tourtillotte and Anne Lemanski, ceramicists Craig Clifford and Debbie Kupinski, and Nia Burks, whose video works introduced new media to Klemm Gallery. Past exhibitions have had a thematic focus, acquainting the Siena community with diverse cultural expression and challenging topics such as Identity Politics. Future exhibitions look to take an interdisciplinary direction as art continues to be redefined by new technologies and their effect on traditional media.

Each spring the gallery provides graduating seniors an opportunity to prepare and mount one-person exhibitions of their work. Faculty and Alumni exhibitions are also regularly scheduled events. As part of the forthcoming Visiting Artist Lecture Series, additional lectures and workshops by other artists and scholars provide opportunities for discussion and collaboration with Siena's faculty and student body, campus-wide.

The gallery schedule is updated regularly.
